he's being spoiled & worse he's getting used to being spoiled like now alhaitham has to take responsibility for the fact that kaveh can now actually read one of these love poems and not immediately die on the spot or turn cynical like "oh yeah empty words not like he means it"

oh yeah i think kaveh was very cynical about love poems and displays of affection in general (whenever he was in relationships before he was always focused on "how do i make the other person happy" and would thus do grand romantic displays and thus knew they weren't hard to fake)

again the pretty privilege thing (the darker aspect of it) where he's so used to compliments but also that people try to butter him up and flatter him for their own purposes so you know words are cheap (and then alhaitham proves him wrong)

the thing is kaveh can't even retaliate the same way (with post it notes nitpicking alhaitham) bc haitham would just be like "heh at least now its quieter if you write your complaints instead of vocalising them" and NO

(the solution is to fall asleep on alhaitham more to subject him to more snoring)

Not the way you expected - Cyno

Where the General Mahamatra, Cyno takes care of you.. but in an unexpected way. ~800 words, Fluff and crack

Another one of your hacking coughs ricochets off the walls of your bedroom. You laid in you and Cyno's shared bed, sore body taking up the whole bed. Yet, nothing would ever be on par with being in your lover's arms. Obviously, he was muscular enough as the General Mahamatra to purge the wrongdoings of criminals all over the vast lands of Sumeru ; but that doesn't mean that he was uncomfortable to lay on, of course not!

Unfortunately for you, Cyno seemed to be working overtime, which was odd for the justice -pursuer as he usually left impressively on time, dropping his headpiece and weapon in seconds. At this point, you were sweating under the piles of blankets - some borrowed from Collei, yet too cold to put them away. Stuck in this dillemma, you decide to get out of bed and wobble out of your room, unsteady footing taking you to the kitchen to fetch some water.

That would turn out to be a very bad decision.

The next time you opened your eyes, you would be laying limp in Cyno's arms, but not in the way that you wanted. 'Great timing, Cyno...' you thought.

"Hey, hey! Can you hear me? Do you need me to take to you Tighnari?"

You'd never heard him sound so frenzied and frankly, out-of-charater. Yes, you've broke through his calm and cold composure to reveal softer and much, much funnier sides of him, but this wasn't something you expected nor wanted to see.

"I'm fine, Cyno...Just give me a second to steady myself, " You creaked out, slowly getting back on your feet as you found the nearest couch or chair to sit on. Your hazy vision searched for Cyno's worried eyes. He looked distraught, as any normal person would be in this situation. Coming back home to your beloved passed out on the ground would evoke some sort of panic even to an ever the cold-hearted person.

"I knew you left work early, but I didn't expect it to be this bad, " He said, voice still fast-paced from the lingering distress. Cyno positioned your arm to go around his shoulder, as he hoisted himself up while carrying your torso and legs in a "bridal carry". Occasionally taking wary glances at you, he began to walk to your shared room. And at last, you returned to your bed once again.

Cyno gently put the back of his hand against your forehead, feeling your burning skin. "We've gotta get that down somehow," he glanced around the room for anything that he could use to cool you down, and ended up grabbing a towel and water, then putting it on your forehead. "uuuuugh... so cold..." Your hand instictively went up to your forehead, but ended up interlocking fingers with Cyno. "You've gotta stay still for this to work, okay? I know it's hard , I've had one hell of a day, too."

Once you heard of his troubling day, you started to feel a bit guilty. As aforementioned, he'd already known of your sickness, but some part of you still wished that you didn't get sick, so you wouldn't have to burden him. Fever making you a bit unstable, tears started to well up in your eyes. "What's wrong, my love?" Cyno uses his free hand to caress your cheek, the other still holding your hand, giving it a little squeeze. "I just...feel so burdensome. I don't want you to come home from a bad day and have to take care of me." You sniffled.

"Don't ever feel guilty for asking for help or care, alright? That's my duty as your lover, and if anyone tells you otherwise, I'll take care of them," Cyno firmly stated, a threatening aura bubbling off his words. You smiled, how did you manage to find someone like him? You were just a regular researcher in the Akademiya, and you managed to meet him through your stoic senior, Alhaitham. During a group dinner, his jokes made you laugh (they were quite terrible, but you'd never admit it to his face.) , and his relaxed and laid-back demeanor out of work was really attractive to you.

"Hey, how about I tell you a joke to make you feel better?"

"...?"

"I don't trust the trees in the Dharma forest, they seem kinda....shady."

His deadpan face was what made you crack up the most, the way he delivers his jokes so unemotionally was really the charm point. Your giggles turned into loud laughs, and then into even louder coughs, bouncing off the walls yet again. Cyno's eyes widened at your hacking, and quickly went to rub your back to soothe you.

"Maybe I shouldn't have done that..."

"Nah, I'm better off coughing than crying."

i really appreciate how well the fandom’s taking in alhaitham and kaveh sometimes - not in a shipping way but just their dynamic

*some slight spoilers to things like archon quests, character stories (and kaveh’s unreleased ones)*

like despite being shown only in the later acts, ive seen a lot more about them than ive seen with other dynamics (debatably on par with zhongchi when they were introduced)

i think theyre just really relatable for many people because i think a lot of the demographic of genshin community are students or young adults and theyve lived through their student days pretty recently and they understand that sometimes, even in the stifling environment of academics, theres also some stupid things that will inevitably come around

like the reasons why they get ticked off by each other is stupid, but i mean, i want to say weve all been through something like that before and its usually pretty harmless and we look back on it and laugh

or the angst that they also had to live through, and i think its shown best in kaveh - living through the high of his life, pursuing his dreams with the palace of alcazarzaray only to have it all crashing back onto him - a period of his life he would rather forget entirely, and has left him struggling to live on his own

of your best efforts, putting your all into what you do, and the harsh reality that its just not enough, just out of your control, and you can’t do anything about it. they show how you can be gifted at something, but also the burdens of it - alhaitham’s undoubtedly a genius, but also practically ostracized for it for his pragmatism and coldness towards others, and regular akademiya students hold him on some pedestal they just can’t reach, contributing more to his ‘robot’ vibe we initially got of him. kaveh has is own problems where despite talented, he’s taken advantage of by others. not necessarily exploited for his talents, but he’s been tricked and held himself back at times just to help others (whether or not its his own fault is a different matter)

the idea of leaving family. while alhaitham lost his parents, he was essentially brought up by his grandmother and he practically peacefully let go of her, like how children can grow up and parents watch them turn into an adult, support them, and recognize that this time it’s their child’s turn to start their lives, and while his grandmother is no longer present to see through this, it’s still a stark contrast to kaveh’s, specifically his mother. I feel like while it’s his mother that’s the one who moves away during kaveh’s younger years, it’s a lot similar to how parents kick their own children out of their house once they reach adulthood. kaveh isn’t settled into this life of independence or cut ties nicely like alhaitham had, instead, he’s thrown into this world and has to figure things out on his own and bear the burdens of it

anyways thats just my thoughts on the two i just wanted to get this out there because i think hoyo really outdid themselves with this dynamic

(ayato and thoma, despite being that five-star-four-star duo like alhaitham and kaveh didnt really sail as well as these two did but im really happy their dynamic is just so complex)

Genshin x GN!reader drabbles: Surviving public transport

Misfortune falls upon you: when traveling by train, one of the trains you had to take was cancelled. How would your Genshin companion react?

Characters: Alhaitham – Zhongli – Wanderer – Kazuha – Diluc – Ayato – Itto – Gorou – Albedo – Tighnari – Childe – Cyno

Alhaitham wouldn't miss a beat and immediately think about the next step. "Oh, our train was canceled? Fretting about it is useless. Let's figure out what to do now—oh, that train station employee over there will have the requisite knowledge."

Zhongli's response will be similarly practical, but with more attention to your emotional response. "Ah, it can be frustrating indeed. But don't worry, we'll get home another way. It will take us some more time, but we have enough of that, don't we?"

On the other side of the spectrum is Wanderer. He'll mostly just be pissed off, and might just expect other people to figure out the next step for him. "What, they can't even run the trains properly? Tsk. Incompetent fools."

As expected, Kazuha is unfazed. "We could also just walk. The fresh air might do us good." You could, in fact, not just walk. One does not simply walk 150 kilometers.

Diluc is a little annoyed. He likes to have things under control and, due to his meticulous preparation, his life usually goes exactly as he expects it to. That someone else's faulty preparation throws a cog in the wheels is frustrating to him. "Tsk. I guess you can't expect much of the train company. Anyway, let's figure out what we should do next."

Ayato never travels by train, and so, like the rest of the travel experience, the experience of severe delays is novel and exhilarating to him. "And people use these trains every day despite their unreliability? Fascinating."

Itto is profoundly disappointed. He had so many cool plans. "I still wanted to go bug-catching with you after we got home! Or wait, maybe we can do that tomorrow?"

Gorou takes every setback in life as a metaphor for a setback in battle. "We may be delayed, but we will still advance. Moreover, our supply lines are intact, so there is absolutely no reason to worry." (The supply lines being the food stalls at the station.)

Albedo doesn't betray any emotion but doesn't disparage you for having yours - whether it's frustration, disappointment, or worry. "I understand why you feel that way. Would it help if I figured out what to do now by myself?"

Tighnari's response is much like Alhaitham's. He doesn't hesitate and immediately starts planning around the delay. "You go and check the app. In the meantime, I will search for an employee who can tell me more."

Childe seems playfully offended and doesn't miss the opportunity to make a flirtatious comment. "How dare they do this to someone as wonderful as you?"

Cyno wants to ensure the proper procedures are followed and doesn't mind invoking the law. "Ma'am, I understand this is outside your control, but your company has given service that is not up to par with what was promised; hence, we expect to be reimbursed."

Notes:

This is such a ridiculous fic. But what else do you do in the train? I got home at 2:45 a.m. last night, when I should have been home a little past 1 a.m.. Safe to say, I had a lot more time on my hands than I expected, and I had already read well over a hundred pages that day. So yeah, then you start writing ridiculous stuff like this.

(but yes. fuck presentations and finding related literature, i say as i finish both essays in a day out of spite)

honestly, i might be a bit biased bc hehehehehe my bbyboy alhaitham BUT! i was genuinely floored by the entirety of the sumeru archon quest. i was literally on the edge of my seat in every moment and i just adore the roles and characters of each member of the cast. when nahida said “the first sage of buer” bro… i was tearing up and having chills…

i’ve always been very particular abt the story bc its primarily why i kept playing genshin but at the same time, i also only pull for characters that i vibe with. fortunately, i have this condition where i perceive religiously farming for good artifacts as equal to feeding them well and… haha… i love my boys okay 🥲 i have an na account but one look at my 100% map in asia and im logging out and saying “nope… not today… no more anemoculi for me”

You're a performer for the Grand Bazaar, and they're holding a formal event to celebrate the year's end! Being one of the star performers, you're invited to the celebration of course, and you got an extra admission ticket for a plus-one! It's seemingly easy to answer the question of who to bring; your boyfriend, Scaramouche of course! You're excited for the event, which also means dancing! Although, you're not sure if Scara likes to dance, but that doesn't matter, he can learn! "It won't be as hard as you think! This night, at the Grand Bazaar, everyone will be there to celebrate an end of another year! Please, you have to come!" "Again, for the nth time, I'm not going to the event [First]. It's too... unruly for my tastes." You raise a brow, questioning is reason for declining "Don't want to, or just shy?" He isn't naturally ashamed of large crowds, you've seen him handle a performance once, all the attention he received had gotten him ecstatic. But why was he refusing this time? Was it because of you? You had a specially-made gown for this event, and tonight was the opportunity to show off the effort you put into sewing it. As expected, the Akademiya spared no expense in this grand party. From the chandeliers to the marble floors, everything looks regal, as if it had been taken out of a fairytale. As the music plays, it reminds you of the last time you asked Alhaitham to dance, and that particular memory did not end well. "Oh Haitham, would you please dance with me?" As if questioning your child-like demeanor, he stares at you for quite a bit. "It's not that'd I'd refuse that lovely offer, it's just that—" "ALHAITHAM!!" You snap your head backwards, only to be met with a fuming Kaveh holding two pairs of keys. "YOU SON OF A BITCH" Kaveh's hair, as if it was a flame, was stood upright and had branches, leave and flowers in it. Kind of like a nest. "WHY DID I FUCKING FIND MY KEY AND YOUR KEY UNDER THE RUG?! LAST TIME I CHECKED I BROUGHT MY FUCKING KEYS WITH ME YOU KEY-THIEF" "No swearing. [First] shouldn't hear you swear" "OH YEAH 'CAUSE THEY'RE SO INNOCENT YEAH BUT WHY DO YOU HAVE TO LOCK ME OUT OF OUR APARTMENT?!" "You, don't pay rent. If I forget to give you your keys, that's your fault. Anyway, you should go home and change, I'd rather die than be seen with my roommate this... unruly." "I hate you Alhaitham, I truly do." Kaveh storms off in a hurry, Alhaitham could've sworn there were thunderclouds over his head. He could even make out the muttering Kaveh was doing beforehand. "Stupid... my fucking fault when you're the fucking key thief... I should file a case against you..."

As Alhaitham watches Kaveh ridiculously storm off, he notices you aren't with him in the ballroom anymore. He excuses himself and leaves to find you, only to be met with your tiny figure dancing alone in the House of Daena. You truly were mesmerizing, dancing in the moonlight that shone off the white walls. Your movements on the tiled floor, your hums that guided every single move, and you, the star of this empty show. For the first(second?) time in forever, he fell in love with you all over again. "You'd think a dancer like you should've shown off in the ballroom, not here." You look up, only to be met by Alhaitham's towering figure. "Yeah, I guess I'm not a fan of big crowds, and this place is emptier than an abandoned ruin." "...When you asked me to dance earlier, I really can't, I'm not a fan of big crowds experiencing their Scribe trip on his own feet." He chuckles slightly.

"I still owe you a dance, don't I [First]? In that case, let's dance our hearts out, where no one but the walls will witness anything."
